If you're part of a large organisation with multiple Jira instances, or you're moving between instances, it's often helpful to be able to import and export your automation rules. Here's how.

Export Rules

  1. Importing and exporting is only available for global administrators. Make sure you're in the 'Global administration' panel.
  2. Click on the '...' and then 'Export rules'.

Your computer will download a file called 'automation-rules-<date>.json', which stores details about your rules.

Import Rules

  1. Go to the 'Global administration' panel
  2. Click on the '...' and then 'Import rules'.
  3. Upload your JSON file to the webpage here
  4. Select the rules you'd like to copy over
